The Liberal Party views with horror the escalation of the Israeli offensive in Gaza City, home to several hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilises, who now risk becoming caught up directly in the military conflict.
The civilian population faces the prospects of another immediate forced mass evacuation into a devasted region lacking any humanitarian support.
The party notes the publication of an independent UN inquiry which has concluded that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, whilst the current offensive further adds to the accusations of ethnic cleansing and potential war crimes.
The party calls for an immediate international effort to curtail the current offensive, and to bring about meaningful talks to restore peace to the region with the supervised disarming of Hamas, the release of all hostages and a restoration of humanitarian aid.
