We are pleased to confirm this evening that Cllr Alan Tormey from the Childwall Ward in Liverpool has joined The Liberal Party Group.

He wishes to leave the LibDem group (and party) and sit as a member of the Liberal Group on Liverpool City Council, having discussed with local members his joining the Liverpool Liberal Association.

We understand he wishes to leave the LibDem group for sound liberal reasons and has a strong local reputation for being a hard-working community politician in the best Liberal tradition.

Alan has consistently supported Councillors from all parties working together and supported equal and individual rights of every Councillor in the best of Liberal tradition.

He wishes to fight one of the new Liverpool wards in the Childwall area as a Liberal candidate in next year’s local elections.
